Cold start

I haven't been practicing my drawing or painting talents for ages. Every now and then I'll do a few ugly pencil/pen sketches but toss them in the garbage as quickly as it takes to draw them.

Recently I downloaded a home-brew program for my Nintendo DS, it's called 'Colors!' and I absolutely love it. It's a very simple (extreme emphasis on 'simple') drawing program. I've been doing a few sketches here and there, nothing serious, but it's sparked a desire to flesh out my abilities once again.

Almost a year ago my oldest sister asked me to draw a picture of what her stillborn daughter might have looked like. I told her I'd take a stab at it, but never actually got around do doing it. So in the attitude of 'better late than never', I've started a digital painting of my unborn niece Megan. I'm making slow progress, which is expected as I haven't done anything like this (thinking about it, when I say 'like this', I'm comparing my old real life painting with digital painting... I've never in my life done a life-like digital painting, so this will be a first) in years. I've never used CS4 for anything but photo manipulation and enhancement.

I'm excited, and happy with the results I'm seeing, I can't wait to share it and hope for some feedback and critique.
